Baggage essentials

General rules


ATTENTION: If passenger’s baggage is more than 50 kg, it shall be accepted for carriage as cargo and carried in accordance with cargo transportation rules.

    • All baggage shall be checked-in and accepted for carriage at the airport of origin.
    • All baggage carried by passenger, including hand luggage, shall be presented at check-in. In accordance with flight safety regulations, each piece of baggage shall be marked with a baggage tag and transported in the cargo compartment of the aircraft.

ATTENTION: It is prohibited to integrate separate pieces of baggage.

Baggage shall not contain the following items:

    • Dangerous items listed in the“Technical Instructions for the Safe Transportation of Dangerous goods by Air (issued by ICAO) , in the “Regulations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods” issued by Air Regulations (IATA), in the Transportation Regulations of the Air Carrier and in other special acts and documents (detailed information may be provided on your request);
    • Items prohibited for carriage in accordance with the legislation, resolutions, rules, regulations, acts, documents, international treaties issued by authorities of any countries to/from/across which the carriage is performed (detailed information can be provided on your request);
    • Other items which can be regarded by the Air Carrier as unacceptable for carriage due to their size, weight, shape and special features. Apart from the above, engineering aspects of the aircraft are also considered (detailed information can be provided on your request).

There are some additional restrictions for items inside the baggage:

    • fragile or perishable items;
    • bank notes, jewellery, precious metals, silver, pecuniary obligations;
    • financial credit documents and other objects of value;
    • papers, passports, ID-cards;
    • drugs, keys and other metals.

The Air Carrier is not liable for any loss or damage to listed items inside your baggage.

Free baggage allowance


The passenger has the right for free baggage transportation within Carrier’s regulations and in accordance with the fare, class of service, destination and type of the aircraft.


The norm of free baggage allowance for direct and transfer flights (internal and international flights of the Air Carrier) is set within Piece Concept System (PC).


While travelling with the same journey aim (documentally stated) and travelling together in one aircraft to the same destination (family, delegation, tourists, sport and other teams), passengers may ask for a group norm of free baggage allowance that means the sum of the free baggage allowance norm for passengers of the same group.


This concerns only free baggage. In case of combining the norm of free baggage allowance, one baggage piece may not exceed 30 kg and/or 203 cm (L*W*H).


Within transfer flights with only one air carrier, rules of baggage and hand luggage transportation are stated according to the fare rules for flights of an Aviation Company.


Within transfer flights with several air carriers, rules of baggage and hand luggage transportation are stated for each flight segment, according to the rules of each air carrier, except for the situations when IATA 302 Resolution takes place.


Free baggage does not include:

    • excess baggage - baggage of the passenger regardless of its name and purpose, which volumes exceed 203 cm (L*W*H);
    • excess baggage - baggage of the passenger regardless of its name and purpose, which weight is more than 30 kg per 1 baggage piece;
    • TVs, radios, photo and video equipment, household appliances, office equipment, cash registers weighing more than 10 kg;
    • flowers, planting stock, greens, dried plants, tree springs weighing more than 5 kg;
    • pets (birds) and service dogs (except for the guide dogs, accompanying blind passengers);
    • baggage that requires special transporting conditions.

* for all fares groups it is possible to buy an additional hand luggage piece up to 10 kg, with dimensions not exceeding 55*40*25 cm. The service costs 1 500 RUB while buying the additional piece on the website or in the call centre of the Aviation Company. While buying the service at the airport, the price is 2 500 RUB.


** On directions Moscow - Voronezh, Moscow - Kirov, Saint Petersburg - Nizhniy Novgorod, Saint Petersburg - Voronezh, Saint Petersburg - Kirov, Voronezh - Sochi and back, you can take one hand luggage piece up to 10 kg, with dimensions 55*40*25 cm.


*** On the fare WBGOW (Special with baggage) on the direction Moscow - Naryan-Mar (for the flights 149-150), free baggage allowance is 23 kg and hand luggage allowance is 10 kg (40x30x20).


**** You can check in an additional baggage piece according to the Rules of paid (excess) and oversized baggage transportation.


Attention: Children 2-12 y.o. also have the same free baggage allowance norm as adult passengers.


Attention: Free hand luggage pieces are not summarised for passengers travelling together.
For children under 2 y.o. without an extra seat, hand luggage allowance is 5 kg with dimensions not exceeding 40*30*20 cm.


A baby carriage will be weighed during the check-in, registered with a baggage tag and transported free of charge.


A whee chair for transporting a disabled passenger will be weighed during the check-in, registered with a baggage tag and transported free of charge.


In case of a forced reduction or rise of a class of service, the passenger has the right to transport their registered baggage and and luggage within the norm of a fare, stated in the initial ticket.


Exception: At the direction of the business development director of Aviation Company «RusLine», there may be other Systems of free baggage allowance and Fares for excess baggage depending on the flight.


Carry-on items and hand luggage


The following objects can be carried on board as hand luggage free of charge:

    • One of the following items with some things inside: a backpack, a wallet or a briefcase. Their dimensions may not exceed 40х30х20 cm, and their weight must be up to 5 kg;
    • Bunch of flowers;
    • Coats;
    • Children nutrition in amount needed for the flight period;
    • One suit in a garment bag.

ATTENTION: a garment bag may not contain any other things apart from the suit. It is not allowed to carry anything in a garment bag, but a suit. If you use a hard garment bag whose dimensions do not allow to carry it on board safely (exceeding 55 cm in any dimension), it will be carried as a baggage piece free of charge;

    • Child carriage device (a cradle, a child restraint system for babies under 2 y.o., a child pram (regardless of child’s age) and other devices), if their dimensions do not exceed the allowed norm and which allow to place them safely on board on the shelf above the passenger or under the seat in the front;

ATTENTION: A child pram or any other child carriage device that may not be placed on board safely due to their dimensions will be weighed during the check-in, marked with a special baggage tag and carried as a baggage piece free of charge. It must be given only before boarding. You can receive these objects after landing at the ramp, if anything else is not provided by your destination airport.

    • medicine, special diet food in amount needed for the flight period;
    • crutches, walking sticks, walkers, rollators, folding wheelchairs, if used by the passenger during the flight;

ATTENTION: A wheelchair of a passenger with reduced mobility will be weighed during the check-in, marked with a special baggage tag and carried as a baggage piece free of charge. It must be given only before boarding.


You can receive the wheelchair after landing at the ramp, if anything else is not provided by your destination airport. Disabled passengers will get their wheelchair for getting on and off board, if needed.

    • Duty-free goods, sealed in a plastic bag, which dimensions do not exceed 40х30х10 cm, weighing up to 2 kg.

All objects, as single as well as counted together, declared as hand luggage must not exceed dimensions and weight that allow to place them safely on board on the shelf above the passenger or under the seat in the front. If there is no possibility to carry these objects safely on board or if they have no hand luggage tag, these objects will be carried as baggage pieces free of charge. In this case a passenger must give these objects to a flight attendant to put them in the baggage department.


All hand luggage pieces must have hand luggage tags and be transported in the shelf above the passenger or under the seat in the front.


ATTENTION: It is forbidden to place hand luggage in places not intended for this purpose, including passes, service shelves, as well as under the seats of the row in front of the emergency exit.


Free hand luggage pieces are not summarised for passengers travelling together. For children under 2 y.o. without an extra seat, hand luggage allowance is 5 kg with dimensions not exceeding 40*30*20 cm.


The passenger must allow his hand luggage to be checked and weighed by a representative of the Aviation Company or by a flight attendant, as well as to be put in the hand luggage sizer of «RusLine» Aviation Company that is set at the airport at check-in desks and in a boarding area.


Hand luggage is controlled in the check-in area, in boarding areas, as well as while getting on board of the aircraft.


The objects that do not comply with weight and/or dimensions norm must be given as a baggage piece/pieces, and a passenger must pay a baggage charge according to actual fare rules of «RusLine» Aviation Company. If a passenger refuses to pay for baggage transporting (if it exceeds free baggage allowance), the Aviation Company may not admit this passenger to flight.


Carriage of liquids in hand baggage


Liquid substances may be carried in limited amount as passenger’s baggage provided that the respective requirements are met:

    • in containers up to 100 ml
    • up to 1L per person

They are alcoholic drinks, soft drinks, water, juices, lotions, creams, perfumes, gels, tooth paste, liquid cosmetics, etc.

Carrying baggage on board


    Passenger baggage requiring special precautions during transportation or special handling conditions (fragile objects, film and photographic equipment, television and video equipment, office equipment, musical instruments, electronic and optical devices, etc.) can be transported in the cabin of the aircraft.

    Baggage transportation in the cabin of the aircraft is signed and carried out by prior agreement with the Carrier. The passenger is obliged to inform the Carrier or their agent about the carriage of baggage in the cabin of the aircraft while booking a carriage or purchasing a ticket. The passenger is to pay for a separate seat for this baggage piece.

    To carry baggage in the cabin of the aircraft, the passenger must purchase a separate ticket at the passenger fares valid at the time of purchase (discounts for children do not apply).

    The rules and fares of «extra seat» do not apply to the carriage of baggage in the cabin of the aircraft.

    The weight of the baggage transported in the cabin should not exceed 80 kg, and the overall dimensions of the baggage allow its placement on a separate passenger seat, which is a maximum of 90x42x30 cm.

    The packaging of the baggage carried in the aircraft cabin should allow it to be secured on the passenger seat. The baggage is placed on the passenger seat at the porthole and is fixed with a seat belt.

    Delivery of baggage carried in the cabin to the aircraft, its lifting, placement in the cabin, removal and delivery from the aircraft is carried out by the passenger.

    This baggage piece must not contain items and substances prohibited for carriage in hand luggage.

Carriage of portable electronic and electrical devices


1. In accordance with the provisions of ICAO documents, personal mobility aid powered by lithium batteries are not recommended for air transportation.


2. Based on ICAO recommendations, Carrier does not accept personal mobility aid powered by lithium batteries as checked baggage and / or carry-on baggage.


3. Personal mobility aids are:

    • Airwheel, solowheel etc.;
    • Hoverboards;
    • Miпi-segway, bаlаncе wheel etc.


4. Possibility of air transportation of portable devices with lithium batteries and power consumption depends on configuration (Wh) * batteries (for the rechargeable lithium-ion / polymer batteries) or lithium content (for non-rechargeable batteries of lithium metal).
